Liberty Intern, Dau Doldol, grew up in the southern part of Sudan. His homeland is now the newest country on earth as it split off from Sudan in 2011 forming South Sudan. Dau fled South Sudan as a child with his family during a civil war with northern Sudan before the countries split. He walked over 100 miles as a young child with an empty stomach. Fortunately, after several years in a refugee camp in Northern Kenya, his family was let into the US as refugees. On arrival the Doldol's settled in our wonderful city of Denver. America has transformed their lives and they are bettering our country as well. Just the way this country was made.
